Experts have frequently spoken about the differences between the urban and rural populations of India. Both are essential to the country, but they are very different in terms of culture, economic status, level of technology, and availability of resources. But the digital revolution that is brewing at the core of our nation is progressively narrowing the technological gap. A Nielsen study from 2022 found that internet use in rural areas of India was 20% higher than in urban areas.
Access to the Internet has evolved in rural areas of our country thanks to the growing number of smartphones, UPI [Unified Payments Interface], and government schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan. This allows latent human potential to emerge and flourish. Many businesses, nonprofits, and educational startups in India’s rural areas are using video conferencing and other technologies to spread their message of skill development, health and nutrition education, and SHG (self-help group) empowerment.
We are thrilled to share the exciting development that has occurred as part of our BSNL 4G saturation project. We have an order for 1238 locations with a total value of INR 1156 crore. At the pan-India level, the foundation has been laid, the necessary partners have been appointed, and the groundwork has begun. Here’s a high-level look at the undertaking:
